Restore Desktop icon in Quick Launch Bar

The following tip will help you to restore your Desktop Icon in the Quick Launch Bar, if it is not present or has been deleted by mistake.

The Quick Launch Bar is located near the Start button in Windows and is used to access applications quickly.

This is a pretty straightforward trick.

1. Open a new text file in Notepad and copy the following lines into it.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

2. Now save this file as "Show Desktop.SCF" (Don't use the quotes in the file name).
While saving the file , type the above mentioned file name in the File Name box and select "All Files" in the save as type box.
Click Save.

3. The newly created file will look like the Windows Desktop icon.

4. Copy this file and Paste it in the following directory
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
(Note: username is the name of the current user. This will differ in different machines)
You can also copy the shortcuts of other applications in this folder.
