Adobe Apollo enters beta; renamed Adobe AIR

Adobe has released a beta of its Apollo platform that lets web developers create rich internet applications that can run on your desktop or outside the web browser. The initial Apollo release was an alpha release meant for developers only.

With this beta release, Adobe Apollo has been renamed AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime).
A significant change is applications can now be created without using Flash. With Adobe AIR you can create applications using HTML, Javascript & Ajax.
