How to close a Google Account?

No! Not me. I wouldn't delete my Google Account, unless off course, I have lots of them. And as I had first thought, Google hasn't made it difficult to close an account. Just a few steps and the account would be gone.
As I had mentioned before, deleting is easy, so I would just show you where to look for the link to delete an account.

(Before proceeding, it would be important to note that closing a Google Account will also close other Google services like Blogger, Adsense, Gmail etc.)

1. Login to your Google Account and click the 'Edit' link near My products. You will find this link near the center (See image).2. A new web page is displayed which provides you with options to either delete the entire Google Account or just a service like Gmail.

3.Carefully follow what you are prompted with and its done.

My First Guest Post >> Avoiding Keyloggers

Sorry for the frequency of posts lately. Well! I've been busy with other stuff. Nearly a month ago, I was given an opportunity to do do a guest post at Technospot; thanks to Ashish for that. Many of you may not be aware of this. Now you are!

The post revolves around confusing keyloggers that try to steal you login details. I guess you'll find it useful, especially when accessing your accounts from public computers.

Post Link: Confusing Keyloggers

So! What are you waiting for. Just head over and read the post..

How to Search through Firefox Bookmarks

No, I won't be giving some detailed steps to search all your saved bookmarks in Firefox. That would be a waste of time when a Firefox addon can do it pretty easily.

Advanced Bookmark Search is a Firefox addon that lets you search saved Firefox bookmarks by name, url, description, all etc.

Why and when would you need to search your bookmarks in Firefox?
If you have saved too many of them in your Firefox Bookmarks menu, looking for a particular one could turn out to be quite a messy and time consuming experience. Always happens with me!

Who would want to search through Firefox bookmarks?
Bloggers are the first that come to my mind. My Firefox browser has close to 400 saved bookmarks. Yeah! I'm good at saving bookmarks, but lazy at writing posts. This addon is a must have for me.
Would you use this addon?

Add Tabs to Internet Explorer 6 or any Windows Programs

Here's an application you'll love if you are used to working with multiple applications simultaneously in Windows.

WinTabber is a program that lets you work with almost any Windows applications, within tabs. For eg If you have IE 6, Firefox and MS Word open separately, you can manage them as tabs within WinTabber.
IE 6 is still one of the most popular browser ever used and WinTabber lets users add the one feature that it dearly lacked. I guess its too late now since IE 7 introduced tabbed browsing anyway. But hey! There are a lot of users out there using the older Internet Explorer.
And remember, you can add tabs to any Windows programs.

This is a must download tool that removes the clutter from the Windows Taskbar. Oh and by the way! It is free.

500 GB squeezed into a DVD

So you thought the 50 GB dual-layered Blu-ray disc was big. Think again!
A University team from Berlin with its partners, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and Universita Politecnica delle Marche in Italy have figured out how to pack 500 GB, that's right, 500 GB into a single HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disc.

Dubbed the Microholas Project, they developed a microholographic recording technique, using nanostructures inside the disk rather than on the surface as you see in regular commercially available discs. This technique results in the increase in storage on the discs.

Professor Susanna Orl told German site Pressetext, even 1 TB (Terabyte) can be a possibility with this technique. Now that is huge!
She also said, the discs were not meant to just store all of your movies, but should be used for effective long-term storage.
Yeah! But do we agree?

New Seven Wonders of the World to be announced on 07-07-07; That's Today!

Wait a sec! The new seven wonders won't be official. The UN had stated in a press release that it has nothing to do with the results. It is just the initiative of Bernard Weber, a Swiss businessman who hit upon this idea in 1999.
It was decided the seven wonders will be announced on 07-07-07.

So after millions of votes (mine not included), the new seven wonders will be announced today at the Official New7Wonders Declaration Ceremony tonight in Lisbon, Portugal.

Although I belong where the Taj Mahal resides, the Pyramids are my all time favourite.
Which ones do you admire?
For more information, you can check out their Official Website.

Update: The new seven wonders have been announced. Here's the list.

Chichén Itzá, Mexico
Christ Redeemer, Brazil
The Great Wall, China
Machu Picchu, Peru
Petra, Jordan
The Roman Colloseum, Italy
The Taj Mahal, India

Bill Gates is no more 'The Richest'

1
Carlos Slim Helu! That is the name you will hear more often now. After all, the title of 'The Richest person on Earth' will go to Carlos Slim Helu. Bill Gates, who stayed at the top of the list for 13 consecutive years has been dethroned.

Who is Carlos Slim Helu?
Many may not know him. I had heard his name a few times before on business channels, but didn't knew much. He is a Mexican who heads a Latin American telecom company called America Movil which provides services around the world.

How do Gates and Helu stack up?
Helu's net worth is estimated to be 67.8 billion dollars while Gates is around 57.2 billion. That's quite a big difference!
However, Bill Gates is reported to have donated close to 30 billion in charities in the last seven years. Carlos Slim Helu has committed to donate about 10 billion in the next few years.

According to Forbes, they are just two among the 946 billionaires in the world. The combined wealth of all these billionaires works out to be around a humongous 3.5 trillion dollars. That's right! 3.5 trillion!
Oh! If you want to know where you stand in the list, check out one of my earlier posts on the 'Global Rich List'.

What the web said about Apple iPhone

Hello readers! Over the past two days a lot of sites have been pumping out posts about the iPhone, and reading them has made me a little queasy. So I thought it would be better to provide some good links on the web rather than writing my own post. And here are some of them. Hope you like it.

Steve Wozniak, the Apple co-founder was waiting in queue to get the iPhone. Engadget caught up with him and have posted the video of his interview.
Engadget has also posted a photo gallery of iPhone unboxing. Check it out!

AnandTech has dissected the iPhone and done a detailed post of what's inside. It is not recommended that you follow the steps; you stand to loose warranty.

Tech-Recipes has a post on activation errors in the iPhone.

HowardForums feature a thread on 20 iPhone disappointments.

Strapless Sandals that 'Stick' with your feet

Here's some piece of technology invading your footwear! Not sure whether to call it technology, but commonsense for sure. Topless Sandals or Flip-flops as they are called in Britain, have no straps to stick to your feet; other than a water based glue. No straps!

According to Nudesandals, the water based glue sticks to your feet, but it doesn't come off on your skin.
So if you like walking barefoot or avoid suntan lines and blisters on your feet, this may be for you.
The site doesn't mention how long the sandals would last, although it does say a regular brush with soap water is required to keep them sticky.

Already available in US and Australia, these nude sandals have been on sale in UK since the last few weeks under the slogan "flip-flops that don't flip or flop". They are available in five designs and retail for 12.50 British Pounds.

Well, I personally can't say how long it would last as I haven't seen or tested it but I'm damn sure this won't last a single day if someone wears them to travel by Mumbai's local trains.
