Here's a tool to automatically shutdown your Windows machine at a scheduled time; well you can also schedule a Restart or LogOff.
That tool is PowerOff, which has two features that makes it attractive; its easy to use and is free.
Just download and open it; there is not need to install.
1. Select your preferred date and time for an action.
2. Select an action i.e Shutdown, Restart or Log-Off.
3. Check the Force button. Click Yes.
That's all. You can also Shutdown by using a timer, kind of a stopwatch like feature.

How to Open .Docx and .Xlsx Office 2007 Files
As many of you may know, .docx and .xlsx are formats used by Microsoft Office 2007 applications, Word and Excel. Older versions of MS Word and Excel which use .doc and .xls formats, cannot open the new formats. They can open the new formats, provided you install certain updates.

For users with older version of Microsoft Office -
Install Microsoft Compatibility Pack. This will enable older Office apps to open the new formats.
For Windows users who don't have MS Office -
Windows users can download Word Viewer. With this, you can only view the .docx document but cannot edit it.
Using Free Conversion Tools -
Docx2Rtf is a free software that converts .Docx files to .Rtf. The converted file can be read by your Word Processor.
Using the Web -
The Web's a great place, full of online convertors. Just upload the .docx file to zamzar.com or docx2doc.com and convert it.

Copy all Filenames in a Directory to a Text File
Got to know this last week! This works great if you want to save all the filenames in a directory to a text file.
1. Open up your command prompt by typing cmd in the run dialog box and hitting Enter.
2. Navigate to the directory which has the files and type the following command -

This will save all the filenames in the current directory to a text file. The text file will be saved in the same directory.
3. To save file names from any sub-directories in the current folder, just add /S like -
